MEMORIES

We read the book, Wilfred Gordon MacDonald Partridge By Mem Fox, one of my favourites.
I asked the class to think about memories. They created a poster about their memories from Junior School or Memories of Year Six.

I really look forward to reading and sharing the memories.

Here they are creating...

I allowed the students free access to all the art supplies...GLITTER was very popular.

LAST MINUTE PREPARATIONS BEFORE THE DEBATE

The ministers and shadow ministers were busy planning and discussing the issues they were going to discuss in the Parliamentary Debate.

Our Parliamentary Debate

How does Democracy work for us Aussies?

That was the question that was asked.

The culmination was our Parliamentary Debate hosted by our local member for Parliament Craig Kelly.

The Bill that was proposed was that students need better conditions for learning.

Our Minister for Education spoke first followed by the shadow Mimister for Education.

Craig Kelly demonstrated how it was meant to be done.

We enjoyed our debate.  Please enjoy some of the videos of the students debating as well as Craig.

He sure is excellent.

Maths PBL completed.

The students were asked a Question...

There are no Maths games on the market that teach students about Fractions in a fun and engaging way. Can you create a game?

The students worked for 3 periods and here they are playing the games that they created with the other Year 6 class.

Prior to the creation of the game, the students had spent some time learning all about fractions - equivalent, simplifying, improper fractions, adding and subtracting fractions. They were ready to go...

We reviewed the question after the games were played...the reactions were very interesting.

Bridge Construction in Action.

Please enjoy the action of Year Six as they create, collaborate and explore...

Creating Bridges

Today we created bridges out of straws and masking tape. The students worked either individually or in pairs to write questions, plan and create a bridge that would hold a suitable load.
We started the tests and will complete them tomorrow.
Here are some photos of the students working.
